Frequently asked questions
Whether you are an aspiring trials rider or seasoned mountain biker, trials skills provide the fundamentals for all cycling. Learning to balance, control and be one with the bike is an overlooked, yet essential part of biking. Trials is an exhilarating discipline on its own, and the application of trials in other areas of cycling is a great way to further your capabilities.

The Trials Line offers both 1-on-1 and group coaching tailored to help each rider progress. 1-on-1 coaching provides a more personal experience, with sessions designed for your growth. Group sessions provide a collaborative experience where riders learn together and support one another. Both trainings give riders the resources they need to expand their confidence, balance and technique.

No, you do not need to have a trials bike to start making progress. The basics of trials can be done on nearly any bike. Just get started. Start making progress today, don't let a bike be the excuse to not start. A bike can wait but positive riding habits should start today!
Similar to any sport, there is risk to trials. However, there is a common misconception about the danger of trials. Trials may look scary or seem dangerous, but trials is a sport of progression. Riders aren't able to jump up and down huge obstacles until they have put in hours and hours of practice mastering that size of obstacle and every level below that. Part of learning trials is learning to properly "fall" or get off the bike safely. Trials is all about full bike control, as riders progress they also improve their bike/body awareness making them the masters of their position. Of course anything can happen, but I hope you can have a little more confidence knowing that trials is less dangerous than it may appear.
Safety is a top priority during bicycle trials coaching sessions. Participants are required to wear a properly fitted helmet to protect their noggin. Additionally, gloves are recommended to enhance grip and protect the hands while riding. Shin guards or other safety pads/equipment are recommended. Closed-toe shoes with a good grip are also essential for maintaining control and stability on the bike. We provide guidance on selecting appropriate safety gear and encourage riders to invest in quality equipment to ensure they have a safe and enjoyable experience while mastering bicycle balance.
The skills you learn will vary based on your current skill level and progression pace. For riders first session the focus will be getting a clear idea of your current skill level so we can provide applicable coaching feedback. Typical skills that may be introduced include, track stand, body positioning, obstacle maneuvering, wheelie, etc. The difficulty of these and additional skills will be catered to each riders abilities.
Each rider progresses at their own pace. We are here to provide the resources, feedback and do all we can to help riders improve, but at the end of the day, our efforts will only match the effort of each rider. The more time and effort riders dedicate to practicing the more we can help them progress and reach their goals. Trials is all about constant improvement and we are here to get riders to their goals in the most efficient way possible.

The primary difference between 20" and 26" trials bikes is their wheel size. A 20" trials bike has smaller wheels that provide greater agility, quicker acceleration, and enhanced maneuverability, making them ideal for technical, precision-based riding. Whereas, 26" trials bikes have larger wheels that offer better rolling momentum and stability, which is advantageous for riding natural terrain and overcoming larger obstacles. Additionally, other sizes such as 24" or 22" exist; these sizes are mainly found on street trials bikes. The Trials Line can help you choose the right bike.
